RUSSIAN EXPORTERS IN GENGHIS KHAN’S HOMELAND
The first RASMEX’ business mission to Mongolia took place in Ulaanbaatar from 21 to 25 May, 2019.
This business mission was organized for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs from Vladimir and Sverdlovsk regions within the framework of regional Export Support Centers’ activity.
The Russian delegation was represented by eight companies from such industry sectors as food manufacturing (powdered milk, gluten-free flour, milk processing equipment), mining (drilling tools, spare parts for mining equipment), road construction (additives for asphalt concrete), and veterinary (veterinary preparations for livestock).
The business mission started with the meeting with Trade Representative of Russia in Mongolia Maxim Vasilyev, who told about advantages of Russian exporters on Mongolian market in comparison to Chinese manufacturers, mandatory registration of some imported goods, conformity assessment procedures for foreign goods, launching branches and joint enterprises etc. Also Mr. Vasilyev gave advices on practical business communication with Mongolian partners.
On May 23 the delegation took part in the Russian-Mongolian cooperation forum hosted by the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mongolia. After the opening ceremony visited by NCCI Secretary General B. Saruul, heads of the NCCI departments and the Business Council for business cooperation with Russia, Vladimir and Sverdlovsk companies gave the presentations on their products and solution. Besides, the Russian delegation members held direct talks with potential Mongolian partners during the B2B matchmaking session.
Then Russian exporters visited offices and manufacturing sites of relevant Mongolian companies including the largest national state and private enterprises such as Erdenet Mining Corporation (copper and molybdenum ore mining and processing), MAK holding (gold mining), Baganuur JSC (coal mining), supermarket chains TECO, Nomin, Orgil and other leaders of the Mongolian market. Each Russian exporter carried out at least three visits to potential partners.
In addition to В2В meetings the business program was enhanced by В2G negotiations in four relevant state institutions, namely the Ministry of mining and heavy industry, the Ministry of road and transportation development, the Ministry of food, agriculture and light industry and the Veterinary and animal breeding agency.
According to RASMEX Deputy Director Evgenia Shchipkova, during the business mission each Russian exporter held at least 8 negotiations with potential buyers of their production and reached preliminary agreements on either export supplies contracts or trial shipments to Mongolia.
From 26 to 29 August, 2019 the Republic of Azerbaijan hosted the business mission of Russian small and medium-sized exporters
